McDonald’s Fries Up New Fish & Chips In Atlantic Canada

McDonald’s looks to reel in true seafood fans with the introduction of new Fish & Chips at participating restaurants in Atlantic Canada.

The new dish features 100 per cent wild-caught Atlantic Haddock, battered up and deep-fried until golden. Each order comes served with the chain’s popular French fries and a special tartar sauce for dipping.

Available at participating locations in Atlantic Canada through August 20, a 2-piece order of fish and chips without a drink is priced at $6.99. You can add a drink to your meal for an additional $1.

McDonald’s sources its Atlantic haddock from High Liner Foods out of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. The fish is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) to be sustainably caught.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread features baked banana bread topped with real chocolate chips, while the Poppy Seed Lemon Loaf features a lemon loaf with baked-in poppy seeds and icing.

For one morning only on Friday, June 1, 2018 Tim Hortons will be serving up the new Honey Dip Donut Breakfast Sandwich in celebration of National Donut Day.

The Honey Dip Donut Breakfast Sandwich features your choice of any one of the chain’s classic breakfast sandwiches sandwiched between a Honey Dip donut.

The sweet and savoury sandwich mashup will be available at all Tim Hortons locations during breakfast hours on Friday. After that, it’s history.

Swiss Chalet Launches Voice Ordering Via Google Assistant App

Cara owned Swiss Chalet is now accepting voice orders through the Google Assistant app.

The chain says the voice ordering feature allows customers to place a reorder for pick up or delivery at any one of the brand’s 200-plus locations across Canada.

In order to place voice orders, simply link your Swiss Chalet account to the Google Assistant app, open the app and say “Ok Google, order from Swiss Chalet.” From this point you’ll be prompted to make a selection from saved menu favourites or reorder your last meal.

“Canadians are constantly on-the-go so being able to offer the convenience of voice-enabled ordering is an exciting advancement in our ongoing commitment to enhancing our guest’s ordering experience,” said David Colebrook, VP of marketing at Cara.

Tim Hortons To Test All-Day Breakfast In Select Markets

Tim Hortons plans to test all-day breakfast at select locations in Ontario later this summer.

The all-day breakfast menu will include all of the chain’s offerings typically available during the morning hours.

Testing is set to take place at a dozen locations in Hamilton and Brampton, according to the Canadian Press.

If testing proves successful, the chain will consider rolling out all-day breakfast nationwide at some point in the future.

The company is also looking at introducing a kids menu, loyalty program, and delivery, according to the report.

The annual Frosty deal allows anyone to get a small Frosty treat for 99 cents at participating locations across Canada through summer.

Select Love Child Organics And PC Organics Baby Food Pouches Recalled

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling select Love Child Organics brand and PC Organics brand baby food pouches due to packaging defects.

The agency says the packaging defects may allow the entry of spoilage microorganisms, which could potentially make children sick. The recall was triggered by consumer complaints.

Saputo To Acquire Shepherd Gourmet Dairy For $100 Million

Montreal-based Saputo Inc. says it has entered into an agreement to purchase Ontario’s Shepherd Gourmet Dairy for $100 million.

Shepherd Gourmet Dairy employs approximately 90 people at its manufacturing facility located in St. Marys, Ontario.

Saputo says the purchase price of $100 million will be paid in cash and from available credit.

Shepherd Gourmet makes a variety of specialty cheeses, yogurt, as well as Skyr Icelandic-style yogurt in Canada.

In the year ending on April 30, 2018, Shepherd Gourmet generated revenues of approximately $57 million.

The transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in June.
