Body Found Inside Wall Of Washroom At Calgary’s CORE Shopping Centre

Police in Calgary are investigating after a body of a man was found inside a wall in a public washroom at the CORE Shopping Centre in downtown Calgary on Monday.

According to police, a maintenance worker discovered the body at around 9:30 a.m., after opening an access panel to examine a toilet’s flushing mechanism mounted inside the wall.

“Despite the circumstances of where the body was located, investigators do not suspect foul play and the death remains classified as undetermined,” police said in a release.

Police can confirm that the body located is an adult male, however, the victim’s identity and cause of death is still being determined. The Calgary Fire Department was called in to assist with the removal of the body. An autopsy will be scheduled once the body has been removed.

The investigation into when the victim died and how he ended up inside the wall is still ongoing.

Canadian Gas Prices Soar With No Relief In Sight

Gas prices in Vancouver have set a new North American record, and Canadian consumers can expect the trend to continue, according to price analyst Dan McTeague.

During an interview with Vancouver’s CKNW radio, McTeague said Vancouver’s price surpassed the previous record held by Los Angeles in 2008, and “it looks like these prices are here to stay.”

Gas prices on Vancouver’s Lower Mainland hit and an average of $1.619 per litre Monday morning.

While McTeague says gas prices could see a small decrease by the end of the week, he said prices could go as high as $1.65 per litre with the arrival of the summer driving season.

Amazon Canada To Create 3,000 High Tech Jobs At Vancouver Tech Hub

Amazon Canada announced Monday that it plans to expand its Vancouver Tech Hub and create an additional 3,000 jobs in fields including e-commerce technology, cloud computing, and machine learning.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was on hand for the announcement Monday morning at the site of Amazon’s future 416,000 square foot Development Centre in Vancouver.

“Canadians share your passion for invention and your commitment to excellence, and that’s why we are excited to see Amazon grow here in Vancouver,” Trudeau said.

“Amazon is excited to create 3,000 more highly-skilled jobs in Vancouver,” Amazon  Canada VP Alexandre Gagnon said in a prepared statement.

The online retail giant currently employs more than 1,000 researchers and engineers in Vancouver, primarily creating new products and services for the company’s international retail business and Amazon Web Services.

The new headquarters will be located at Canada Post’s former locations on West Georgia Street and is expected to open by 2022.

Amazon currently employs around 6,000 people across Canada, with about 1,000 researchers and engineers in Vancouver.

New Giant Tiger Opens In Renfrew, Ontario

Canadian-owned family discount store Giant Tiger will celebrate the grand opening of its new Renfrew, Ontario location on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

The new 20,000 square foot retail outlet located at 648 O’Brien Road in Renfrew will be hosting a grand opening special event starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, beginning with speeches and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

A number of free activities will follow, including strolling entertainment, free face-painting, promotional and gift card giveaways and a charitable barbecue for the Renfrew Food Bank.

American Chopper Returns To Discovery Canada On May 28, 2018

After a six-year hiatus, American Chopper returns to Discovery Canada for an 11th season beginning May 28, 2018.

The docuseries follows custom motorcycle builders Paul Teutul Sr. and his son Paul Jr., as they forge ahead with their own shops and separate lives.

Fans of the series will notice big changes at Orange County Choppers. Paul Sr. transformed his operation into a complex with a motorcycle shop, café, bowling alley, restaurant and showroom. Meanwhile, Paul Jr. downsized his operation and deals with new stresses and challenges with a family of his own.

Despite their public feud, Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. take steps towards mending their relationship, working together for the first time in 10 years.

Netflix Canada gears up for warmer temps and May flowers with a wide selection of new titles for the month of May, including forty new titles launching on the streaming service on Tuesday, May 1 alone.

Howard Stern fans will want to circle May 31 on the calendar, because that’s when the “The King of All Media” is set to appear on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman. It’s also a My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman doubleheader this May as Tina Fey will also come face to face with the beard on May 4.

Three New Old Navy Stores Opening In Canada This Spring And Summer

American clothing and accessories retailer Gap Inc. announced Tuesday that it plans to open more than 60 new Old Navy stores by the end of 2018, including three new locations in Canada this spring and summer.

“We’re excited to continue expanding our retail presence across Canada by opening additional stores in 2018 and investing in our digital experience to highlight the best of our brand however and wherever our customers choose to shop,” said Sonia Syngal, president and CEO of Old Navy.

On May 2, Old Navy will open a new retail location at the Carrefour Angrignon shopping centre in Lasalle, Quebec, as well as a new Outlet Collection at the Edmonton International Airport in Alberta.

A third location is scheduled to open at the Fairviw Mall in Toronto, Ontario in June.
