‘Full Disclosure’ A Novel By Former Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin Coming On May 1, 2018

Simon & Schuster Canada on Tuesday announced the acquisition of the debut thriller by former Chief Justice of Canada Beverley McLachlin. Full Disclosure will be available beginning May 1, 2018.

Full Disclosure grew out of my experience as a lawyer and judge, and my lifelong fascination with the criminal justice system,” McLachlin said in a release.

“Fascination, first, with the wrongs the criminal justice system seeks to right and the consequences it imposes on those caught in its web. Fascination, second, with the people who labour in the criminal justice system – the police, the prosecutors and the defense lawyers who seek to defend the indefensible. And, finally, with the overarching question of crime and punishment, a subject that engages us all,” added McLachlin.

Set in the gritty streets of Vancouver, Full Disclosure is a razor-sharp murder thriller, and McLachlin’s first novel.

When the affluent and enigmatic Vincent Trussardi is accused of his wife’s murder, tough-as-nails defense attorney Jilly Truitt agrees to defend him, despite predictions that the case is a sure loser and warnings to stay away from the Trussardi family. With her reputation and Vincent’s life on the line, Jilly tries to unravel the web of secrets surrounding the murder. As she digs deeper, she uncovers a startling revelation that will change not only the case, but her life forever.

Beverley McLachlin, 74, was the 17th Chief Justice of Canada, the first woman to hold this position, and the longest serving Chief Justice of Canada in history.
