40 Rona Stores To Be Rebranded Lowe’s In Early 2017

Rona is out, and Lowe’s is in, as the American retail home improvement company plans to convert 40 Rona locations outside Quebec into Lowe’s branded stores in 2017.

Lowe’s acquired Rona about six months ago. The rebranding is scheduled to start with locations located outside Quebec in early 2017.

As part of the plan, the chain will maintain four store types – Large big box stores will be branded Lowe’s, medium-sized stores will continue to operate under the Rona name, small locations will carry the Ace hardware name, and large Réno-Dépôt stores will operate under the Rona brand mainly in Quebec.

An additional 17 stores in Quebec will undergo the conversion to Lowe’s in 2019.

Lowe’s also plans to open four new stores in 2017, while overhauling another nine locations.

Overall, Lowe’s and its partners operate close to 400 stores across Canada.
